Project Summary

The goal of this project was to explore the role of valvular interstitial cells (cells from the valve of the heart) in mitral valve disease. Because of the fragile nature of these cells in the culture environment, cell survival became and issue. Therefore, the cells were not able to be evaulated for matrix metalloproteinases nor collagenase activity.
