Clinician Scientist Fellowships

The AKC Canine Health Foundation Clinician-Scientist Fellowship Program supports young scientists. Through this effort our mission to prevent, treat and cure canine disease will endure for years to come.

Recipients are selected based upon the following criteria for a resident/graduate student:
1) Who has shown promise and enthusiasm for pursuing a career in canine health research,
2) Who will conduct research in line with CHF’s mission to advance the health of all dogs,
3) Who will conduct research that will abide by CHF policies, including our Humane Use of Animals Policy.

Theriogenology Residency Program

The Small Animal Theriogenology Residency Program is a collaboration between the American Kennel Club, the AKC Canine Health Foundation, and the Theriogenology Foundation to increase the number of trained practitioners in companion animal theriogenology and clinical genetics. Theriogenology is the branch of veterinary medicine concerned with reproduction, including the physiology and pathology of male and female reproductive systems, and the clinical practice of veterinary obstetrics, gynecology, and andrology.

Canine Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Residency Program

The Canine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program is a collaboration between the American Kennel Club and AKC Canine Health Foundation to increase the number of specialists trained to meet the unique needs of athletic and working animals, as well as all animals in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation focuses on recovery after surgical procedures, as well as improving the quality of life in animals suffering from debilitating diseases such as arthritis or neurologic impairments.

Help Future Generations of Dogs

Participate in canine health research by providing samples or by enrolling in a clinical trial. Samples are needed from healthy dogs and dogs affected by specific diseases.
