The AKC Canine Health Foundation rigorously tracks the tangible outcomes of our funded research. To date, the AKC Canine Health Foundation has contributed to over 100 peer-reviewed publications in both veterinary journals and journals with broad biomedical community readership. Original projects funded by the AKC Canine Health Foundation are cited or “used” by another investigator to make strides in the area of study more than 340 times.
The AKC Canine Health Foundation is proud to announce approval of 17 research grants to 14 research institutions for 2014. These grants, totaling nearly $1.5 million, will provide better treatments, more accurate diagnosis, and a deeper understanding of the causes of disease.

We award grants to scientists that concern the origins of canine illness, diagnosis of canine diseases, developments of effective treatments and the identification of disease prevention strategies.
