Genetic Basis of Canine Spinal Abnormalities

The Canine Genetics lab of Dr. Kari Ekenstedt, at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine, is heading a research project involving common dog skeletal morphology. DNA samples from purebred dogs of the following breeds are needed:

  • BASENJI
  • BOSTON TERRIER
  • BULLDOG
  • CHOW CHOW
  • ENGLISH TOY SPANIEL
  • FRENCH BULLDOG
  • ICELANDIC SHEEPDOG
  • KEESHOND
  • NORWEGIAN BUHUND
  • NORWEGIAN ELKHOUND
  • PUG
  • SHIBA INU

Dogs of any age and health status qualify.
