Dorothy Cimino Brown, MS, DVM, DACVS
Dr. Dorothy Cimino Brown is a member of the AKC Canine Health Foundation Scientific Review Committee.
Dr. Brown holds a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine and DVM from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. After internship and surgical residency training at the University of Pennsylvania, she became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.
During her 21 years as a professor and clinician at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine, she served as Professor of Surgery and led a sponsored translational research program that focused on the measurement and management of chronic pain in companion animals. For 10 years she was the Executive Director of the Veterinary Clinical Investigation Center, supporting the design, implementation, and analysis of clinical trials within both the small animal and large animal academic teaching hospitals. More than 130 scientific publications and book chapters mark her 25 years in academia.
In 2017, Dr Brown joined Elanco as the Lead Executional Scientist for the Translational Comparative Medical Research program with Eli Lilly. Since Elanco’s spin out from Lilly in 2018, she’s held a variety roles in Elanco Animal Health R&D, directing Companion Animal Research and Global Efficacy & Model Development teams. Most recently, she leads the Indication Strategy and Projects for the pain, orthopedic and internal medicine research portfolios.
Dr Brown is life-long dog lover and owner who is passionate about improving canine health and welfare through innovation.
