Abstract

The purpose of this research project is to determine the accuracy of reported pet dog food intake data. Currently, there is a lack of information regarding if pet owners over or underreport how much they feed their companion animals. This information will help future researchers determine dietary intake in their studies of disease states. A convenience sample of dog owners will be obtained through word of mouth, advertisement, and referral in the Soutwestern, Northern, and Eastern United States. Health data of the pet canine and owner will also be collected for descriptive purposes and generalizability estimates.
