Support Residency Programs

The AKC Canine Health Foundation is committed to fostering the next generation of veterinary specialists dedicated to canine health. Our two residency programs in small animal theriogenology and canine sports medicine & rehabilitation, with support from the American Kennel Club, provide exceptional training grounded in advanced clinical experience and cutting-edge research. 

The AKC/AKCCHF/TF Small Animal Theriogenology Residency Program supports training in all aspects of companion animal reproductive medicine and clinical genetics. Each grant provides $150,000 in support of a two-to-three-year residency program. Click here for information on the current class of theriogenology residents.

The AKC/AKC CHF Canine Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Residency Program provides training in specialized care for working dogs, performance athletes, and active companions. Each grants provides $300,000 in support of a three-year residency.

Help Future Generations of Dogs

Participate in canine health research by providing samples or by enrolling in a clinical trial. Samples are needed from healthy dogs and dogs affected by specific diseases.
