Bequests

A bequest or gift is a written statement in a donor’s Will or Trust directing that specific assets, such as cash, a piece of real estate, the stock from one specific company, or some other specific property, or a percentage of the donor’s specific assets, be transferred to the AKC Canine Health Foundation at the donor's death.

Sample Bequest Language:

I give to the AKC Canine Health Foundation, a non-profit 501 (c)(3) Corporation, headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, (Federal Tax ID 13-3813813) the sum of $_____________to be used to support the Foundation's mission to advance the health of dogs.

For a gift for a specific disease:

I give to the AKC Canine Health Foundation, a non-profit 501 (c)(3) Corporation, headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, (Federal Tax ID 13-3813813) the sum of $_____________to be used to advance their mission for healthy dogs through sound scientific research and activities to prevent, treat and cure canine disease for the ____________ disease.

For a gift that gives the remainder of the estate after all other estate expenses and specific bequests have been paid:

I give to the AKC Canine Health Foundation, a non-profit 501 (c)(3) Corporation, headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, Federal Tax ID 13-3813813, all or a percentage____________% of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, to be used to advance the health of dogs.

For a gift that is contingent on the change of status of a previously identified beneficiary:

If (insert name) is not living at the time of my death, I bequeath to the AKC Canine Health Foundation, a non-profit 501 (c)(3) Corporation, headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, Federal Tax ID 13-3813813 the sum of $ _______ (or all or a percentage of the residue of my estate) to be used to advance their mission for the health of dogs.
