Our Northern Lights Kennel’s slogan is “Brains – Beauty – Ability” and Am GCHS/Can CH Northern Light’s Shimmering Moonglade, AOM, RI, BN, “Shimmer” is a wonderful example of what our breeding program strives for. Shimmer’s beautiful movement has earned her many a compliment both in and outside of the breed ring. She has been awarded multiple AOMs including at the Siberian Husky Club of America’s (SHCA) 2016 National Specialty and the 2018 Westminster. In 2017 Shimmer was awarded the SHCA’s Highest Scoring Siberian in Rally Novice award AND the SHCA’s Top Winning Show Bitch award – a first! Her rally novice scores qualified her for the 2018 AKC Rally National Championship. Shimmer continues her winning ways in both the breed and obedience rings, being awarded the 2019 SHCA’s Highest Scoring Siberian in Rally Intermediate.

A solid genetic foundation for a breeding line is the most important thing for not only the preservation of that line but also for the breed, and in turn the sport. Health testing provides not only a stable breeding program today but ensures a healthy well-grounded genetic pool for the future. As breeders it is our highest responsibility and obligation to produce the soundest and healthiest dogs we can. The impact of purposeful, healthy, genetically sound breeding today lays the groundwork for the conservation and safeguarding of a breed and the fancy of tomorrow. Through this obligation, due diligence, thought process, and ancestral health testing, the outcome is a dog that upholds the AKC breed standard, the working requirements of the Siberian Husky, and the sound temperament essential to a family dog. Shimmer's accomplishments as an athlete, performance in the conformation ring, rally and obedience, on the sled team, and as an active ambassador of the sport, are all greatly attributed to quality and proper health testing.
