Jennifer Heyward, DVM, MS (CHF Grant 03152-E)

Dr. Heyward earned her veterinary degree at North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a small animal rotating internship and Master of Science degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine where she remains as a comparative ophthalmology resident.

Dr. Heyward’s research interest is comparative ophthalmology. Her fellowship project will build on her master’s research into the role of increased clot formation in the development of sudden acquired retinal degeneration syndrome (SARDS) in dogs. She hopes to continue her career in academia conducting clinical research and caring for veterinary patients.

Help Future Generations of Dogs

Participate in canine health research by providing samples or by enrolling in a clinical trial. Samples are needed from healthy dogs and dogs affected by specific diseases.
