Lymphoma Research

The AKC Canine Health Foundation (CHF) supports critical research into understanding canine lymphoma.

Why We Focus on Lymphoma

Canine lymphoma is a type of cancer that affects a dog’s lymphatic system, which is part of the immune system. Lymphoma is now understood to encompass more than 30 different types of cancer affecting immune system cells, and it can affect various organs, including lymph nodes, spleen, liver, and bone marrow. While some forms of this disease are slow-growing or very responsive to treatment, other forms are aggressive and rapidly impact health. As our understanding of lymphoma grows, more accurate diagnostics and novel treatment strategies are needed to provide personalized and more effective management strategies for affected dogs.
