Infection & Immunity Research

The AKC Canine Health Foundation (CHF) supports research on how dogs’ immune systems fight infections and protect against diseases, aiming to improve treatments and prevention strategies.

Why We Focus on Infection & Immunity

The immune system is responsible for protecting the
body from harmful invaders like bacteria, viruses, and
even cancer. Understanding how the canine immune system reacts to these threats is essential for developing better treatments and prevention strategies. By studying how the immune system activates, fights infections, and responds to diseases, we can improve the care of dogs affected by infections and immune-related conditions, leading to better health outcomes and a higher quality of life for these dogs.
