Small Animal Theriogenology Residency

This residency program provides support to increase the number of veterinary professionals with expertise in theriogenology–the study of reproduction in animals–with a focus on dogs.

Purpose of this Residency Program

This program, a partnership between the American Kennel Club, the AKC Canine Health Foundation, and the Theriogenology Foundation, aims to increase the number of trained specialists in companion animal reproduction and clinical genetics. It focuses on advancing veterinary care in reproductive health, breeding practices, and clinical genetics for small animals. Through hands-on clinical experience, didactic education, and research opportunities, this program prepares residents for American College of Theriogenology board certification.
