Idiopathic epilepsy is a debilitating and life-shortening disease. The disease in the brain that causes idiopathic epilepsy is not visible on standard MRI scans limiting the ability to understand what causes the disease and how it impacts the brain. The advanced MRI technique of diffusion tensor imaging is sensitive to detecting the lesions in the brains of human epileptics. This study aims to apply this technique to map the brain lesions present in a group of dogs with epilepsy. This study will allow investigators to identify the pattern of lesions present in these dogs. This will help better understand how the brain is impacted by epilepsy and may improve the ability to diagnose, sub-classify and monitor the disease.
