Samantha Van Buren (CHF Grant 03153-E)

Ms. Van Buren earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science at the University of Minnesota. She is currently a doctoral student in Animal Biology at the University of California, Davis. Her research interests focus on canine genetics and her fellowship project will be to study the role of MITF gene mutations in white spotting of the haircoat and development of retinal degeneration in the Italian Greyhound.

Ms. Van Buren is an experienced dog show enthusiast and agility competitor who also breeds Mudis. Her passion for science and dogs drives her to help improve the health of all dogs.

This fellowship is generously sponsored by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA).

 

Help Future Generations of Dogs

Participate in canine health research by providing samples or by enrolling in a clinical trial. Samples are needed from healthy dogs and dogs affected by specific diseases.
