A Novel Approach for Prevention of Canine Hemangiosarcoma

05/02/2018
Breed(s): Portuguese Water Dog, Boxer, Golden Retriever
Study Type: Blood Sample, DNA Sample
Study Location: University of Minnesota

The Clinical Investigation Center of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine is currently collecting blood samples from Boxers, Golden Retrievers, and Portuguese Water Dogs in a cancer prevention study. Our study will help determine if specific cells in the blood can be used to detect hemangiosarcoma in its earliest stages, before a tumor has formed.  A successful study would result in better options for treatment.
