Blood Disorders Research Program
The AKC Canine Health Foundation supports basic science discovery and clinical research into the treatment of blood disorders through the Blood Disorders Research Program Area. This program supports research into the pathophysiology of disease, molecular and genetic basis of disease and identification of potential therapeutic drugs that correct the cellular phenotypes associated with disease. As with all research program areas, Regenerative Medicine research is strongly supported by the Blood Disorders program.
Key canine health problems addressed by this research program include, but are not limited to:
- von Willebrand's Disease
- Clotting Factor Deficiencies
- Transfusion Medicine
