Donor Participation Program

Purina Parent Club Partnership Program

The Purina Parent Club Partnership (PPCP) Program is an alliance between Purina and National Parent Breed Clubs to help promote canine health and well-being.

The PPCP Program helps National Parent Breed Clubs earn important funds for canine health studies, education efforts and/or rescue through the participation of its members in Purina® Pro Club®. Purina® Pro Club® is a loyalty program dedicated to supporting dog breeders and enthusiasts with exceptional nutrition, savings and services. If your breed club members own/care for five or more dogs, or breed one litter of puppies per year, and live in the U.S., they qualify for Pro Club® membership. To enroll, they may call toll-free at 1-877-PRO-CLUB, or visit their website at www.purinaproclub.com.

When Pro Club® members, who are also members of the National Parent Breed Club or an affiliate club, declare their participation in the Purina Parent Club Partnership Program and participate in the Pro Club® weight circle redemption program, the National Parent Breed Club will earn an incremental 10% of the value of all points redeemed with the qualifying weight circles.

Before any of this can occur, an official representative of the National Parent Breed Club must provide Purina with a signed participation agreement indicating the specific National Parent Breed Club’s intent to participate in the program.

Purina will then track each declared individual’s earnings and accumulate them by the participating National Parent Breed Club. Periodic earning reports will be provided to the participating clubs.

On an annual basis, the total earnings per club will be donated to the participating National Parent Breed Club. These donations will be split with a minimum of 50% of the funds accrued by the breed club’s participating in the PPCP Program going directly to the Canine Health Foundation through the Donor Advised Funds. The remaining 50% can be used by the individual National Parent Breed Club for additional health research, rescue and/or education programs.

The Canine Health Foundation has agreed that PPCP Program-generated funds placed by the club in the breed’s Donor Advised Fund, if eligible by the Foundation’s guidelines, will be 100% matched.

As of July 31, 2005, there are 144 National Parent Breed Clubs registered and participating in the program. In 2004, these clubs donated earnings of over $189,000 to the Canine Health Foundation and 2005 projections indicate that $230,000 will be donated to support canine health.

Purina continues to publish information on the PPCP Program in the quarterly newsletters sent to all Pro Club members. New Pro Club members are informed about the PPCP Program and will be asked to identify their parent club membership at when they sign up for Pro Club membership. Participating National Breed Clubs are encouraged to create awareness through newsletters, web-sites and other club communication vehicles. More details on the program can be requested by calling 1-800-778-3375 or by our online e-mail contact form.

Partnering with Purina in this exciting new program provides an effective way to raise money for canine health studies, so more resources can be focused on the most important health issues facing dogs today.
