After growing up in Brooklyn, New York, Jim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Fordham University and his Master of Business Administration from New York University's Stern School of Business.
In 2002 Jim joined the The American Kennel Club, Inc. as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to this, Jim was the CFO for MSD Capital, L.P., which is Michael Dell's privately-owned investment firm. He is a certified public accountant and a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the New York State Society of CPAs where he previously served on its CFO Committee.
Jim serves on the Board of Directors of AKC Companion Animal Recovery Corporation and is its Secretary and Treasurer. In addition, Jim is a member of the Board of Directors for the AKC Humane Fund and AKC's Political Action Committee and Treasurer for both of these organizations.
Jim and his wife Andrea have two sons, Chris and Jeff, and reside in Wantagh, New York with their Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, Toby.
